Google Business Model and Scamper

Google Inc. is an American multinational corporation which provides Internet-related products and services, including internet search, cloud computing, software and advertising technologies. Advertising revenues from AdWords generate almost all of the company’s profits.
The company was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while both attended Stanford University. Together, Brin and Page own about 16 percent of the company’s stake. Google was first incorporated as a privately held company on September 4, 1998, and its initial public offering followed on August 19, 2004. The company’s mission statement from the outset was “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful” and the company’s unofficial slogan is “Don’t be evil”. In 2006, the company moved to its current headquarters in Mountain View, California.
Google has been estimated to run over one million servers in data centers around the world, and process over one billion search requests and about twenty-four petabytes of user-generated data every day. One of the reasons Google’s rapid growth is due to their business model run and their SCAMPER. Marissa Mayer, the senior leader of Google’s business, defines the business model of Google basically breaks to a few points. But such innovation would make Google a leader on its business.
Google’s Business Model
Keep an intense focus on users.
This refers to the quote “If you don’t listen to them, someone else will”.
Give high quality, excited employees is the license to be creative.
Google has a policy for their employees, that 1/5 of their work time may be dedicated to explore ideas. This would later be a high investment of the time spent, as 1/5 of the generated ideas are used for product and services improvements and innovations.
Launch early and often,
As referred to the culture of “start-up” above, Google launches things earlier, and more often then any companies can think of. This culture of new product developments are on their terms of the head starter of the industry.
Tackle hard problems.
A problem is not hard when it is solved already, but when it remains persistent in a certain period of time, then the problem requires special attention. In Google’s case the senior leadership provides where technology is going, yet in this provision there would be problems for Google to solve. Pretty much the reason why Youtube was owned by Google.
Focus on how you can further advance your value promise
Speed is of the essence. Google is built upon the concept of speed. The fastest. Precious time is held for its preciousness. Save time, speed the processes up
Delight your customer
Offer the unexpected. Slip in some humors in all the seriousness. Google is playful of its users as much as it is playful to its employees. The search engine itself is filled with surprises, while the surprises may not be that delightful, it would at least show the company’s sense of humor.
Trust your users.
The crowd sourcing is in for Google’s advantage. Over 1 million people have made Google moved from 14 languages to 140.

Festival Makanan Keukeun @ Lodaya

At September 30th, we visited the unique food festival in Lodaya, which will after this be dubbed as “Keukeun”. After we went through the journey, we arrived there at the peak of its crowd zenith. The festival venue is not that large, but the hysteria of people attending would had been larger than the hosting venue.

Most of the food stalls sell products, innovated by youths alike. Amongst the notable are “Siete Cafe”, “Fingertips”, and “Buavita Icecream”. The natural outcome of the festival appears to be majored by meat dishes, with the sweets remain as minority. The festival itself designed for a “snack festival”, as one does not seek to have their main courses in the festival; rather, the festival holds a wide selection of side dishes that would serve as the visitors culinary purposes.

The festival also held games. Amongst of the unique and interesting to the crowd is, the game to blend the fruits and vegetables with bicycles. And “test your strength” game of which a boxer’s bag are put to test the people of their strength. Also, there are games of which balloon on the back of a boxer, when the balloon explodes, a free portion of satay is awarded.

There were also performing groups, interesting to behold of. The youth typical groups such as DJs, Bands, and Celebrity Chefs, the chef demonstrated how to blend a healthy juice properly. The juice itself was typical, by the hype over it that made the demonstration special.

The documentation of the event is on the following:

Creativity and Innovation – A Definition

By simple definition, creativity and definition— are the two words that make the world goes around. They include a process of “change”, of which an intangible or existed idea are processed and changed. The two words does not have a fixed definition according to dictionaries, and are perceived differently according to different linguistic experts.

According to Wikipedia, creativity refers to “to the invention or origination of any new thing (a product, solution, artwork, literary work, joke, etc.) that has value. “New” may refer to the individual creator or the society or domain within which novelty occurs. “Valuable”, similarly, may be defined in a variety of ways.”, while innovation refers to ” the creation of better or more effective products, processes, services, technologies, or ideas that are readily available to markets, governments, and society. Innovation differs from invention in that innovation refers to the use of a better and, as a result, novel idea or method, whereas invention refers more directly to the creation of the idea or method itself. Innovation differs from improvement in that innovation refers to the notion of doing something different (Lat. innovare: “to change”) rather than doing the same thing better.”.

Taken from the two definitions, differences between the two contrasted on the previous existence of the idea. Creativity occurs when the idea did not exist in the first place, and was created in the process of idea creation. While innovation occurs when the idea existed already, and values are added within the existing idea, it could appear from one existing idea or more, and thus the innovated idea have its desired new values.

When compared, innovation is also a part of applied creativity. When a creativity or a creative idea is applied upon an existing idea, and thus executed to be the new idea. Creativity does not require a tangible idea, innovation however, requires a tangible idea which is a proof that the idea was already executed.

Quotes of prominent figure regarding the two topics are in the following:

Innovation has nothing to do with how many R&D dollars you have. It’s not about money. It’s about the people you have, how you’re led, and how much you get it.

– Steve Jobs

Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things.

– Steve Jobs

Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and therefore the fount of all invention and innovation. In its arguably most trans-formative and revelatory capacity, it is the power to that enables us to empathize with humans whose experiences we have never shared.

– J. K. Rowling

One very important aspect of motivation is the willingness to stop and to look at things that no one else has bothered to look at. This simple process of focusing on things that are normally taken for granted is a powerful source of creativity.

– Edward de Bono
